The Los Angeles Lakers really wanted a win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night, and they got one.
The Lakers beat the Blazers 110-102, and LeBron James had a sensational game.
As noted by the NBA on X, he put up 40 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and four three-pointers.
“LeBron James with another 40-ball at 40,” they wrote, reminding fans that he is doing all of this at 40 years old.
NBA fans, even those who don’t like the Lakers, showed their support for James after the big game.

Many people said he is performing like it’s ten years ago and he is a decade younger.
A man at his age has never played like this, and it feels like James has defied Father Time once again.

Others said his performance was “legendary,” which is an appropriate way to describe it.
James is putting up 24.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game in 2024-25, shooting 51.6 percent from the field.
40 dropping 40 is legendary!

Many fans are referring to James as the “backbone” of the Lakers, which has been true for years.
However, will that change now that Luka Doncic is on board?
Will James soon be second-in-command behind Doncic?

Finally, some viewers noted that James was a little rusty at times during Thursday’s game.
They pointed out that he had 11 turnovers, which definitely wasn’t his goal.
You left out 11 TO.

Even with a lot of turnovers, James still led his team to a much-needed win.
His performance was indeed amazing, but it certainly wasn’t surprising because James is consistent in his greatness.
