Delhi Capitals head coach Jonathan Batty remained bullish about his side’s remaining games in the Bengaluru leg of the ongoing Women’s Premier League after losing to UP Warriorz at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.
“I think there’s an even balance between bat and ball on that wicket. There was some help for the seamers, some spinners bowled nicely as well, and if batters played well, they could score runs. There are going to be some balanced games, and hopefully some close games for the neutral fans as well. I think the wicket will suit us over the next three games. We’re confident and comfortable as we move to the next phase,” Batty told reporters after DC registered its second loss of the season.

After a Chinelle Henry blitzkrieg helped the Warriorz post a formidable total of 177, bowlers including Kranti Goud and Grace Harris helped skittle out the two-time finalist for 144 enroute to their first win of the season.
When DC openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma failed to get the desired start, Jemimah Rodrigues helped steady the ship with her first half-century of the season.
Despite the middle order failing to contribute to the scoring again this campaign, Batty backed his batters and heaped praise on Jemimah.
“Chasing such a big score at the end brings pressure on the middle order as soon as they come in. Jemi was impressive today. We sent Marizanne Kapp and told her to have a go, try to score a quick 20 or 30 to keep us going at the right rate, to take the innings deeper. I think we’ve got a fantastic middle order and tonight wasn’t our night. It’s just unfortunate,” Batty conceded.
Delhi Capitals next faces Gujarat Giants for the first time this season on Tuesday, February 25.
