The Indiana Pacers have been on a roll lately and are currently the fifth team in the East with a 26-20 record.
But just because they have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games doesn’t mean they won’t participate in a trade before next week’s deadline.
Dan Woike recently reported that Bennedict Mathurin is drawing “significant interest on the trade market” but the Pacers won’t easily part ways with him.
“Indiana guard Bennedict Mathurin is being monitored by nearly every team seen as a buyer at the deadline, according to one scouting executive. But because the Pacers are playing such good basketball, the team is expected to seek a player it values while trying to recoup the first-round pick it spent on Mathurin in a deal,” Woike wrote, per NBACentral.

Mathurin is averaging 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 2024-25, shooting 47.1 percent from the field.
He has upped his game from last season when he was posting 14.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.
Mathurin is a part of the team’s success this year, and the Pacers are well aware of that.
That is why they refuse to simply cut ties with him for less than a big return.
The team is intent on landing a player “it values,” but who is that and where will he come from?
The Pacers are in a good position with Mathurin: they can trade him but only accept a high-caliber player in return, or they can hold on to him, keep finding success, and perhaps build his trade value for the future.
Right now the Pacers feel comfortable with the team they have, so they aren’t going to move unless a premium offer comes to them.
Teams that want Mathurin better get to work because they have less than a week to entice Indiana.
