With the NBA trade deadline looming, we are now hearing news about some teams’ plans.
Even a team as successful as the Boston Celtics may decide to mix things up before the deadline and ship away some of their talent.
According to Kevin O’Connor, via NBACentral, the Celtics are “open” to trading Jaden Springer.
Springer, who is just 22 years old, is known for his defensive skill and could be an asset to many teams across the league.

The Celtics have a very stacked team, so they likely won’t be committing to many other moves before the deadline.
If they do decide to swap Springer out for someone else, which direction will they take?
O’Connor recommended that they pursue a big man in order to boost their frontcourt, but there hasn’t been a lot of insight into what the Celtics need.
Many players would want to move to the Celtics because they are the reigning champions, but how many other teams would jump at the chance to work with them?
Springer came to the Celtics in the middle of the 2023-24 season after playing for Philadelphia since 2021.
During his time with Boston, he has averaged 1.9 points and 1.0 rebounds during his 6.1 minutes on the court.
He obviously isn’t the biggest presence for the Celtics, but they would still want a decent return for him if they decide to make a trade.
Even with a few recent troubles, the Celtics don’t need to do much because they are so competitive.
That means that any trade they pursue will be one they really believe in and something that will help the team.
