Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be without all-rounder Sophie Devine in the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL), as she has decided to take a break from domestic cricket.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) did not specify the reason but stated that she made the decision based on professional advice. This means Devine will also miss the Super Smash in New Zealand, where she recently took a five-wicket haul for Wellington.
Since helping New Zealand win the T20 World Cup in October 2024, Devine has had a busy schedule, playing ODIs against India, competing in the WBBL for Perth Scorchers, and facing Australia in an ODI series in December.

Devine played a key role in RCB’s title-winning campaign in 2024 and was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2025 auction. She contributed 136 runs and claimed six wickets across 10 matches in the 2024 season. Devine’s 99 is the highest score by a player in WPL.
