LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is now 40 years old, but that hasn’t stopped him from playing incredible basketball this season.
The NBA icon is still putting up monster numbers, even at his age and even after the addition of Luka Doncic.
NBACentral celebrated James on X, noting that he is currently averaging about 25 points, eight rebounds, and 9 assists per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor and 40 percent from the three-point line.
On top of that, the Lakers are now 14-3 over their last 17 games and are just one game back from the second seed in the loss column.
Doncic might be the future of the team, but James remains the engine that drives the squad.
As crazy as it may sound, LeBron James hasn’t been getting enough love this season. He’s averaging 25-8-9 on 52% shooting from the floor and 40% from 3 at age 40. The Lakers are 14-3 in their last 17 games and just one game back from the 2nd seed in the loss column.

NBACentral said that his stat lines sound crazy, and that’s a good way to describe it.
Simply put, no one else has done what James is doing at his age.
He is posting averages that are never seen by anyone his age, and people much younger than him have a hard time achieving them too.
When he entered the league more than 20 years ago, James made it clear that he wanted to play basketball for a very long time.
As time went on, people determined he’d have a long career, but not many thought he’d still be playing after 40.
And fewer people thought he’d be averaging such high numbers at that age.
James has experienced more injuries, and he obviously won’t play forever, but he’s producing more than anyone anticipated.
For that reason, many analysts consider him underrated.
They say he isn’t getting enough love and respect, and many Lakers fans agree.
