India international Deepti Sharma was named UP Warriorz’s captain for the Women’s Premier League 2025 season, which is set to commence from February 14.
The 27-year-old will be taking over the captaincy from Australia skipper Alyssa Healy, who was ruled out of this edition due to a recurring foot injury.
The Warriorz signed Deepti for Rs. 2.60 crore during the inaugural auction. In the 2023 season, she went on to take nine wickets and scored 90 runs with the bat.
Last season, she racked up 295 – the fifth-highest for runs – while taking 10 wickets.
The off-break bowler was also named in ICC’s 2024 Women’s T20I Team of the Year, alongside India teammates Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh.
