India registered its highest PowerPlay score during the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
The host broke its previous record of 82 runs which it scored against Scotland at the T20 World Cup in 2021, and had equalled it in 2024 during an encounter against Bangladesh.
Abhishek Sharma, who scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in T20Is, took control of the innings. The left-handed batter was joined by Tilak Varma and the pair reached their 50-run stand in only 18 balls.
This is also the fourth-highest PowerPlay score in T20Is overall. Australia holds the record, scoring 113 runs against Scotland in 2024.
