The Sacramento Kings have gotten much better since Doug Christie took the reins of the team.
While Mike Brown had done a great job for the most part, the results on the court have shown that the team needed a bit of a shakeup.
Nevertheless, that hasn’t been enough to convince De’Aaron Fox to stay there for the long run.
The Kentucky product hasn’t signed a contract extension and seems unlikely to do so at this point.
So, with the trade deadline closing in, the Kings have no choice but to finally entertain trade offers for him.
According to a report by Shams Charania (via Real GM & NBA Central), the Kings don’t want to rebuild, even if they trade Fox.
“The Kings, so far in conversations with all those teams, they’ve said they want win-now players. They want draft capital as well.”

Instead, they want draft capital and players who can help them win now.
It makes sense when you consider that they still have two other borderline All-Stars in Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan.
The Kings are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Neither of their stars would be a 1A on a championship-contending team, which may explain why they’ve struggled to leapfrog anyone and become perennial playoff contenders.
Nonetheless, they’re not bad enough to blow things up, either.
Fox has yet to become the superstar he appeared poised to be one day, and that may not happen at this point.
Then again, he would still be a huge upgrade at point guard for multiple teams.
Whether one of those needy teams will have the necessary assets to get him remains to be seen.
