The NBA regular season is almost over and voting for MVP is about to begin.
It has been a close race at times during the season, but one player remains the frontrunner.
According to Yahoo Sports, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder is a “near-lock” for MVP, with -3000 odds.
Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is behind him with +1000 odds.
Unless some radical happens, Gilgeous-Alexander will be named MVP for the first time in his career.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been on fire since the start of the season, averaging 32.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game on 51.9 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from the three-point line.
Gilgeous-Alexander has been such a joy to watch and has created some of the best basketball of the season.
He plays with incredible speed, efficiency, and competitiveness.
He is also the clear leader of his team, so it’s no surprise the Thunder are doing so well.
Winning MVP is a major honor, but the biggest prize would be winning a championship, and that feels possible right now.
The Thunder have been the top team in the West since the start of the season, and they remain firmly in first place with a 64-14 record.
Do they have what it takes to battle through the rest of the Western Conference and then make their way to the NBA Finals?
The fight for this year’s MVP has been tough, and Gilgeous-Alexander battled through every game.
Some people call him the future face of the league, and earning MVP would confirm that’s the truth.
In a few weeks, we will know if he is the league’s Most Valuable Player and in a few months, we will know if he is a champion.
