Former Australia batter Will Pucovski has retired at the age of 27, saying he does not want to “risk doing any more damage” to his brain after repeated concussions.
He made one Test appearance, scoring 62 against India in Sydney in 2021.
Pucovski dislocated a shoulder later in the match, ruling him out of the remainder of the series.
He has suffered 12 known concussions during his career and last played competitively in March 2024, when he was hit by a Riley Meredith bouncer while playing for Victoria against Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield.
Pucovski said he experienced “scary” after-effects from that incident.
