Hayley Matthews of Mumbai Indians finished as the leading wicket-taker of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season to secure the Purple Cap.
The Kiwi all-rounder picked 18 wickets in 10 matches, with an economy of 7.75. She recorded her season’s best bowling figures of five for 38 during a <a href="https://sports-info.online/2025/02/19/cricket/wpl-2025-delhi-capitals-clinches-another-close-finish-to-beat-up-warriorz-by-seven-wickets/” title=”WPL 2025: Delhi Capitals clinches another close finish to beat UP Warriorz by seven wickets”>league stage match against UP Warriorz.
In the final against Delhi Capitals, Kerr added two more scalps, removing Jess Jonassen and Jemimah Rodrigues, and gave away 25 runs in four overs.
She edged past her teammate Hayley Matthews, who also picked 18 wickets this edition.
MI beat DC by eight runs to clinch the WPL 2025 title on Saturday, March 15 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
