Joe Root’s 98-ball century against Afghanistan on Wednesday was the 11th hundred of the ICC Champions Trophy, making it the edition to record the most number of centuries.
The previous best in an edition was 10 centuries in the 2002 and 2017 editions.
Will Young, Tom Latham, Towhid Hridoy, Shubman Gill, Ryan Rickelton, Ben Duckett, Josh Inglis, Virat Kohli, Rachin Ravindra, and Ibrahim Zadran are the other centurions in this edition.
This was also Root’s first hundred in the 50-over format since 2019. His last century came against West Indies during the 2019 World Cup in England.
