The third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to begin. The 22-match T20 tournament will feature five teams competing from February 14 to March 15.
As the sides gear up for the new season, here’s a look at the players who have scored the most runs in the last two WPL editions:

Meg Lanning not only captained Delhi Capitals to two consecutive WPL finals but ensured she led the side with the bat as well. With a total of six fifties in 18 matches and striking at 130, the former Australian captain has remained key to Delhi’s near-successful campaigns.
Her highest score of 72 off 42 was against Bengaluru in 2023, a match that saw Shafali Verma at her finest and a fifer by Tara Norris, the first-ever in the tournament’s history.

Ellyse Perry played a significant role in helping Bengaluru claim its first WPL title. The 2024 Orange Cap winner — who scored 347 runs from nine matches — contributed with both bat and ball. In 17 games, the Australian has notched us five fifties and averages 54.
Her top score came in 2023 against Delhi Capitals — Her unbeaten 67 was in a losing cause after Richa Ghosh’s late fireworks helped Delhi have the final say.

Shafali Verma (Delhi Capitals)
Known for her power-hitting at the top of the order, Shefali Verma has been Delhi’s ace, especially in times of need. Striking at an impressive 168, the Indian batter has smashed five fifties in 18 games and has provided her side the perfect starts in setting totals and chases.
Her highest score, 84, was against Bengaluru in 2023, the same innings in which Lanning registered her best figures in the WPL.

Mumbai Indians’ captain Harmanpreet Kaur guided her side to history as MI lifted the first-ever WPL title. The Indian skipper didn’t have the greatest second season due to injuries but recovered in time to take her team to the eliminator. She has five fifties to her name in 17 games, striking at almost 138 at an average of 45.
She currently holds the record for the highest individual score in the tournament — 95 not out against Giants, smacking 10 fours and six sixes — which helped Mumbai register the highest successful run chase of 190.
