The Los Angeles Lakers pushed their way past the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night and LeBron James had yet another wonderful evening.
He led his team and helped them secure a 110-102 win and also earned a spot in NBA history.
As pointed out by the NBA on ESPN, there are only two basketball players who have had 40-point games at age 40 or older.
Michael Jodan did it first and had a single 40-point game after reaching that age.
James has now done it twice, surpassing Jordan and further cementing his status as an icon of the game.

40 points is always outstanding, but it’s even more remarkable because of James’ age.
The fact that he is still playing like this after turning 40 is sensational.
However, James doesn’t seem to be slowing down in the ways that people expected.
It’s very likely that he could have another 40-point night soon, and he could put a bigger gap between him and Jordan.
People are asking when anyone will ever top James with these records.
When is the next time we will see a 40-year-old star perform like this?
Will it ever happen?
It’s important to remember that Luka Doncic still isn’t 100 percent, and he will be playing even more as he gets healthier.
That means there is a chance that James gets less ball-handling time and won’t score as much in the future.
That’s a good thing for the Lakers because Doncic is such a proven offensive threat, but it could hurt James’ chances of more games like the one he had on Thursday.
But even if he never has another 40-point showing, James’ spot in Lakers and league history will never be questioned.
