UP Warriorz’s Grace Harris became the third bowler in the history of the Women’s Premier League to register a hattrick. She achieved the feat against Delhi Capitals, helping UPW seal a 33-run win in the process at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Saturday.
“I think I manifested this,” Harris told broadcasters after the game, UP Warriorz’s first win of the season.
“I was joking when I was asked what my plans would be in the bowler’s meeting and I said I would do this and that and would get a hat-trick. We have these casual meetings. But they all started laughing when I got it. Now I am going to manifest something with the bat because I am a batting allrounder. But my bowling has been better than my batting off late,” she said.
Harris bowled 2.3 overs in this game, those final three deliveries coming in the 20th over of the Delhi innings. She removed Niki Prasad with a short delivery forcing the 19-year-old to swing the bat only to hole out to Chinelle Henry at deep midwicket. She then took out Arundhati off the very next ball with the Delhi allrounder with a thigh high full toss that was awkwardly thumped to Shweta Sehrawat between cover and point. She then snuffed out Minnu Mani with a catch off her own bowling to bring the curtains down on the Delhi effort, bringing up her maiden WPL hattrick in the process.
