According to a statement issued by The Ring, the magazine owned by Turki Alalshikh, Saturday’s IBF heavyweight title fight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker is in danger of being called off.
This comes just days after Floyd Schofield withdrew from his scheduled fight against Shakur Stevenson on the same card.
“The Ring has learned that IBF heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois is sick and is currently being evaluated by a doctor,” said the statement. “A replacement is being pursued in the event that Dubois is unable to move forward with his defense against Joseph Parker on Saturday night.”
In terms of replacement opponents, The Ring later added to their statement and mentioned the names Lawrence Okolie, David Adeleye and Mourad Aliev as possible contenders to fill in for Dubois.
However, at this stage it is not yet clear whether Dubois will be fit or not to defend his IBF heavyweight title in Saudi Arabia. We hope to get some official confirmation, either way, soon.
