Indian and English cricketers were spotted wearing green armbands during the third ODI between the two sides in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
These green armbands represent the BCCI’s initiative to promote organ donation.
“Both teams are wearing green armbands to support the BCCI’s initiative, ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives’. The initiative is spearheaded by ICC Chairman Mr Jay Shah,” the BCCI said in a statement.
The armband campaign was also supported by the presence of two organ recipients – Gunjan Umang Dani, a lung recipient, and Ms. Deepti Vimal Shah, a kidney recipient – who accompanied Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler for the toss.
Earlier, Indian players Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Shami had endorsed the organ donation initiative in a video posted by the BCCI.
