For the last few days, it seemed like Kevin Durant could be headed toward a reunion with the Golden State Warriors.
However, it sounds like there was never really a chance of Durant going back to the Bay Area.
A new report from Anthony Slater said the Warriors underestimated Durant’s “coldness” toward the organization.
Steph Curry even picked up the phone to chat with Durant, but he walked away feeling that a reunion wasn’t going to happen.
“At some point in the last several days, Stephen Curry had a conversation with Kevin Durant that convinced him a reunion was extremely unlikely, no matter how much the Golden State Warriors ownership group and front office collectively ‘underestimated’ Durant’s coldness toward a return, as one team source put it,” Slater wrote, per NBACentral.

Durant could have solved a lot of the problems the Warriors have.
After all, he was a key part of two championship runs for the team years ago.
Since leaving the Warriors, there have been countless rumors of Durant not loving his time with Golden State, feeling like the odd man out, and not wanting to return.
Apparently, those weren’t just rumors, and Durant really isn’t eager to start another chapter with the Warriors.
In the end, Golden State was able to secure a deal that brought them Jimmy Butler, so they are feeling a little better about their situation right now.
As for Durant, they should give up all hope of ever getting him back.
While he might like certain people on the team, such as Curry, he has no desire to come back and it looks he never will.
