Perhaps for the first time in his NBA career, Ben Simmons talked about his desire to play winning basketball.
The Brooklyn Nets star recently called out the team for seemingly wanting to lose games and tank.
Now, a report states that he might even approach the team about leaving.
“There has been some talk amongst teams that Ben Simmons will approach the Brooklyn Nets for a buyout to join a playoff-contending team,” Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints wrote, via NBACentral.

Even before he entered the league, scouts questioned Simmons’ love for the game and passion.
He hasn’t done much to change that narrative, seemingly being fine with not playing as long as he kept cashing his checks.
That’s why it’s difficult to believe he’s willing to leave money on the table to play for a competitive team.
If that’s the case, multiple teams could be interested in his services.
Simmons’ impressive athleticism and size, as well as his playmaking, could make him a major contributor to a contending team.
Then again, there are many red flags to consider.
He has rarely been healthy, he hasn’t taken criticism lightly, and there have always been doubts about his focus.
Teams can ignore his reluctance to shoot 3-pointers, but his seeming lack of mental strength at the free-throw line makes him too much of a liability at times.
This could be his last lucrative, long-term deal in the NBA, as he will likely have to sign short-term “prove it” contracts to hang around.
Therefore, leaving money on the table may not be a realistic option.
