Murphy’s Law has seemingly been in effect for the Philadelphia 76ers this season after they had some real optimism this past summer that they would be legitimate championship contenders.
A number of their key players, including superstar center Joel Embiid and nine-time All-Star forward Paul George, have been hit by injuries, and they find themselves with an 18-27 record, which puts them in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
George had recently returned from his latest injury, only to go back on the shelf due to a finger injury, and an MRI revealed that he has an injured tendon in his left fifth finger.
Per Kyle Neubeck, he will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, which may give the team a better idea of his timeline.
My understanding is we’ll have a better idea of George’s return timeline tomorrow, expecting that he’ll be evaluated again and (hopefully) get an on-court session in https://t.co/C4zgMSRo7X

George was supposed to give Philly that legitimate third scoring option they needed to keep pace with the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics and the rising New York Knicks.
But while some dared to put Philly in that same upper echelon as the Celtics and Knicks coming into this season, others had some real concerns about the roster.
George has a history of being injury-prone, and in five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers prior to this one, he appeared in over 56 games just once.
Nonetheless, the Sixers made a huge investment in George by signing him to a four-year, $212 million contract this past summer.
With George approaching his 35th birthday this May, one has to wonder if that was a wise investment, given how much wear and tear he has and his history of not being able to stay healthy.
