The NBA was hit with some big news on Tuesday that the Sacramento Kings will be open to trade offers involving star guard De’Aaron Fox ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
With just over a week to go before that deadline, it is hard to imagine Fox being moved any time soon, but there is no doubt the Kings will receive many offers in the days to come.
It is rumored that Fox’s preferred destination could be the San Antonio Spurs, and former WNBA star Chiney Ogwumike said on ESPN’s “NBA Today” that the Spurs would be close to the perfect destination for Fox.
She said that Fox’s experience playing with a star big man in Domantas Sabonis, his athleticism and his high production would make him a great partner for Victor Wembanyama.

The Kings were expected to take a step forward after missing the playoffs last season thanks to the offseason addition of forward DeMar DeRozan, but they started 13-19.
In late December, they fired head coach Mike Brown and replaced him with Doug Christie, but despite a subsequent seven-game winning streak, they’re only in 10th place in the Western Conference with a 24-22 record.
Fox is averaging 25.2 points and 6.2 assists a game this season, and at age 27, he’s early in his prime.
As Ogwumike alluded to, his timeline lines up enough with that of Wembanyama, the 21-year-old phenom who is putting up 24.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and a league-high 3.9 blocks a game.
A Fox-Wembanyama partnership could eventually result in San Antonio winning their sixth NBA championship sometime in the coming years.
