The Boston Celtics have been on sale for months but a definitive plan for their future hasn’t been figured out.
We still don’t know who will own the Celtics or how much they will be sold for.
According to Bill Simmons, per Cameron Tabatabaie and NBACentral, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is reportedly interested in buying the Celtics.
But just because he wants to buy the team doesn’t mean he will and he could have some stiff competition and a hefty price tag to contend with.

Lurie grew up in Boston and obviously has a deep love for the team.
He is in fact a fan of all New England sports.
He attempted to buy the Patriots back in the 1990s, but that team was eventually sold to Robert Kraft.
After that deal fell through, Lurie moved on to another NFL franchise and bought the Eagles instead.
Owning the Celtics is the opportunity of a lifetime for a Boston native who has made a lot of money over the years.
The Eagles have done very well during his tenure, so Celtics fans would probably be comfortable with Lurie owning their beloved franchise.
But he would have to put up a lot of cash to make this happen.
Nothing is certain, but most estimates say the Celtics could sell for more than $6 billion.
It’s not clear if Lurie would purchase the team on his own or as part of a larger partnership and group effort.
If the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in a couple of weeks at the Super Bowl, the idea of Lurie owning the Celtics might become much more popular.
