It’s been an inconsistent 2024-25 NBA season for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they continue to vacillate between title contender and Play-In Tournament team.
The Timberwolves have all the talent and depth to compete with any team in the league, but their lack of cohesiveness on both ends of the floor can come back to bite them.
For example, their game against the Golden State Warriors started poorly, as they scored only 15 points in the first quarter.
Anthony Edwards found it difficult to find much room to operate against the Golden State defense and showed his frustration with how the game was called by complaining to the officials.
Edwards got hit with a technical foul in the second quarter for arguing a call, and after the game, he went on a rant about the referees.
Edwards’s expletive rant went viral on social media via Dane Moore.
“I said one thing and he gave me a tech. Motherf***** told one of my teammates if I would have said, ‘Y’ALL calling a bad foul’, he wouldn’t have gave me a tech.”
Anthony Edwards on the refs last night:
“I said one thing and he gave me a tech. Motherf***** told one of my teammates if I would have said, ‘Y’ALL calling a bad foul’, he wouldn’t have gave me a tech. N****s sensitive and terrible.”

People will glorify this but hate on Tatum/Brown/Mazzulla for the exact same thing. Refs are soft league-wide and that’s just a fact

Edwards’ point about referees being soft has been a common criticism this season.
Several others have been called for technicals that didn’t appear to be warranted.
Although Edwards is likely right in the big picture, the league won’t allow his comments to stand, and he’ll likely be hit with a huge fine.
It’ll be interesting to see what the amount comes to, though Edwards doesn’t seem to shy away from calling out things he sees as unfair.
