The San Antonio Spurs hit the jackpot when they drafted Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Wembanyama had been considered the best prospect in his draft class for quite some time as he dominated competition overseas in France before coming to the United States.
The Spurs have built their dynasties on the back of generational big men like David Robinson and Tim Duncan, and Wembanyama appears next in line to take the torch and lead the franchise.
After a strong rookie season, Wembanyama has taken another leap during the 2024-25 NBA season and is already one of the best players in the league.
The big man looks like he was built in a lab.
He has the size, length, and mobility to do just about everything on the court.
Wembanyama took time to develop into the player he is today, and a video surfaced of him playing basketball as a kid that went viral on social media via Legion Hoops.

In the video clip, Wembanyama appears much taller than the kids he’s playing with and shows some very early signs of what he could do on the basketball court.
His body clearly grew into his frame, and his legs and arms looked gangly, though that’s common for most kids who have yet to hit their growth spurt.
It’s a fun and cute video of a very young Wembanyama discovering his talent on the basketball court, though now that child appears destined for superstardom in the NBA.
