It’s been quite the year for Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics.
Not only did he win his first NBA championship, but he also earned a few prized trophies and was called one of the best players in the entire league.
Brown recently added another impressive accomplishment to his resume when he was named Sports Illustrated NBA Player of the Year by Chris Mannix, via Daniel Donabedian.

Last season, Brown averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game, shooting 49.9 percent from the floor and 35.4 percent from the 3-point line.
He was a crucial part of the Celtics’ run through the playoffs and was given Eastern Conference Finals MVP as well as NBA Finals MVP when Boston eventually won it all.
The offseason was a bit more complicated for Brown, with many people shocked that he wasn’t selected for Team USA when Kawhi Leonard stepped away.
Brown made no secret of his dissatisfaction with that choice and even created some controversy with his outspoken opinions.
However, he made it clear that he was going to put that behind him and play great basketball when 2024-25 tipped off.
Sure enough, that is exactly what he’s been doing.
He is putting up 23.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game so far in the new season, and the Celtics remain one of the top teams in the league.
Will they be able to return to the Finals and will Brown get another Eastern Conference Finals MVP along the way?
The Celtics are such a deep team that it is hard to choose their best player.
But many people say Brown is the person who brings it all together and makes their success possible.
This award is further proof of how powerful a player Brown is, and it probably won’t be the last time he receives such an honor.
