His rookie season was fantastic, but Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is getting even better in his second year.
As noted by StatMuse on X, Wembanyama is averaging 24.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 4.0 blocks per game in 2024-25.
That means he joins just Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players with an average of 20 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, and four blocks in a season.
Those three players went on to have historic, legendary careers—will Wembanyama follow in their footsteps?

When Wembanyama joined the NBA last season, he was seen as a young man with great defensive talent and a lot of potential for his offensive skills.
He posted 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, and 1.2 steals in his first year, easily leading the way for Rookie of the Year.
His numbers are similar this year, although mostly slightly improved, but Wembanyama looks different.
The big man is playing with a lot more confidence and is showing signs of leadership.
He is comfortable with his role on the Spurs, and that is helping the team improve.
Last season, San Antonio didn’t even make the playoffs.
They are the 12th seed right now, which means they may miss the postseason again, but they have a good shot of climbing a bit higher and competing in the Play-In Tournament.
As for Wembanyama, he is showing that his first season was not a fluke.
More impressively, he is proving that there is still room for growth and he could continue to get better in the seasons ahead.
He is already doing historic things in just his second year, and fans are imagining a bright future for Wembanyama.
