The Los Angeles Lakers are a good team, but they don’t have as many stars as other Western Conference contenders.
The trade deadline is just a couple of weeks away, and they could use it to bolster their roster.
Nonetheless, a recent report by Jovan Buha of The Athletic states that they’re more likely to make a minor move or none at all than to go all-in for another star player.
Per Shams Charania, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are growing concerned about Rob Pelinka’s inability to make moves (via NBA Central).

Of course, it’s easy to feel frustrated, as this could end up being the final year of LeBron’s career, and the Lakers aren’t championship contenders as things stand now.
Conversely, it’s also easy to understand why the Lakers might be reluctant to trade their picks.
There are plenty of doubts about this team’s future in the post-LeBron James era.
If he goes and they trade Anthony Davis – or even if they keep him – they will most likely revert to their losing ways, making those picks very valuable.
If they trade them to try and make a championship run and fall short, they will be in quite a tough spot in the future.
There aren’t any available superstars that could help this team become a top-tier team in the West immediately.
Even if James and Davis don’t feel the same way, gambling and jeopardizing the future for a second-round playoff exit might not be the wisest decision.
