For years, the Cleveland Cavaliers were knocking on the door of contention.
They were a playoff team, but it didn’t truly seem like they were a lock to get past the first or second round.
Now, they might finally get to fulfill their potential.
Kenny Atkinson has them playing great defense and even better offense, and they’re 5-0 to start the season.
They even beat the red-hot Los Angeles Lakers by 24 points in a game that was never truly close.
Needless to say, it didn’t take long before the fans took to X to react to this impressive start to the campaign (via Legion Hoops).

This team was already solid on defense, but Atkinson has them getting great looks, pushing the pace, and spreading the wealth.
Despite not having Max Strus, the team has been great at knocking shots from beyond the arc, ranking No. 1 in the league with a 41.1% three-point shooting percentage.
Evan Mobley has been more aggressive with his shot as well, and he’s averaging four more points per game than his career average.
The Cavaliers have a roster that’s talented enough to be a perennial top-four team in the Eastern Conference, especially with the way the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers are playing to begin the season.
It’s still early, and this might not be sustainable, but the Cavaliers are playing like one of the best teams in the entire league right now, so there’s no reason to think this is a fluke.
