As they sit toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, the Toronto Raptors understand that the rest of this season is probably a lost cause.
But the future could be impressive in Toronto if the front office plays its cards right.
The Raptors apparently are interested in making some changes and are “highly motivated” to trade one star.
“The Raptors are very motivated to move [Bruce] Brown and his $23 million salary, sources said, in hopes of growing the return from trading Pascal Siakam to Indiana on Jan. 17, 2024. … If no trade materializes involving Brown, he would surely be in great demand as a buyout candidate,” Jake Fischer wrote, via NBACentral.
The Toronto Raptors are highly motivated to trade Bruce Brown, and he could become a potential buyout candidate if no trade materializes, per @JakeLFischer

Brown joined the Raptors in 2024 as part of the Siakam trade but hasn’t been his usual self since then.
He has been limited to 43 games by injuries and has played in just nine games so far this season.
During that time, he has produced 7.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
When Brown came to the Raptors, he was one of the most intriguing trade targets in the league.
That’s because he was still hot off his championship with the Denver Nuggets and was seen as the definition of a great role player.
In his reporting, Fischer noted that “roughly a dozen teams” were looking at Brown during the summer of 2023.
How many would be willing to work with the Raptors this time to make a trade happen before the upcoming deadline?
Toronto is motivated to move Brown, but because of his recent history of injuries, that could be a difficult task.
