The last few years of Paul George’s tenure with the Indiana Pacers were filled with great speculation about where he would go and who he would play with next.
Sitting down with Andre Drummond on the “Podcast P” show, George revealed that he contemplated moving to the Detroit Pistons to play alongside Drummond and Reggie Jackson.
“That might be a solid three stars right there,” George said, via NBACentral.
Ultimately, George decided not to join Detroit, partly because he wasn’t fond of the notoriously cold winters in that part of the country.
Paul George said he considered leaving Indiana for Detroit to team up with Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond.
PG: “That might be a solid three stars right there.”

We all know what happened next: George elected to move to the Oklahoma City Thunder for two seasons before he joined the Los Angeles Clippers in 2019-20.
Today, George is playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, where he is averaging 17.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
Back when this move to Detroit was evaluated, George was seen as one of the most exciting young players in the league.
He averaged 18.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game during his seven years with the Pacers.
He could have moved to any team after his time with Indiana, but he felt Oklahoma City gave him the best chance to win a title.
That wasn’t meant to be, and his years with the Thunder ended up being a disappointment.
Detroit fans will always wonder what could have been if George made a deal with the Pistons and joined up with Drummond and Jackson.
Would he have been the missing piece they needed, or would that team have fallen short like the Thunder did?
