Today, New York Knicks fans are mostly pretty happy with their team, although they are eager for more success in this year’s postseason.
But there was a time not too long ago when being a Knicks fan was an often frustrating experience.
Amar’e Stoudemire knows that very well because he played for the Knicks for years.
Speaking on “The OGs Show,” per NBACentral, Stoudemire talked about that frustration and how it once led to him punching a wall and cutting his hand when he had reached a breaking point.

Stoudemire said it came after a successful run with the team.
He listed the multiple players who were working well with him in New York and how they were all having career-best years.
But then came a season when the ball wasn’t moving well and all the talent on the court couldn’t help the Knicks climb out of the hole they were in.
Stoudemire prided himself as a leader and was definitely one of the team’s most important players.
He had a tough time grappling with the troubles New York was experiencing, and it got the best of his temper.
The Knicks never did have the sort of successful playoff run Stoudemire had in mind, although he is still beloved by the fanbase.
During his five years for New York, Stoudemire averaged 17.3 points and 6.7 rebounds.
After his seasons there, he moved on to the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat before retiring in 2017.
Now he is strictly a fan and happy to see the Knicks doing much better.
This story shows just how much devotion and passion he had for his team and how much he wanted to help them win.
