The Golden State Warriors continue to free-fall.
It’s become painfully evident that this current core isn’t good enough to compete for an NBA championship.
As such, and with their title window closing by the day, they’re looking to make some big moves ahead of the January trade deadline.
According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, the team is looking to bolster their frontcourt by adding a big man (via NBA Central).
They’ve set their sights on Nikola Vucevic, Robert Williams III, Jonas Valanciunas, and John Collins:
“The Warriors have continued their due diligence on the trade market and inquired about potential frontcourt upgrades, including Nikola Vucevic, John Collins, Jonas Valanciunas, and Robert Williams, league sources told HoopsHype. Conversely, the chances of Golden State acquiring previously reported wing targets such as Jimmy Butler and Cam Johnson have decreased.”

According to Scotto’s report, the Warriors were also linked to Jimmy Butler for weeks, but their chances of getting him aren’t good.
Stephen Curry hasn’t been the same explosive scorer of old this season, but he’s still one of the best players in the league.
He’s been dealing with a nagging knee injury that has even forced him to miss some games, and the Warriors haven’t found a consistent contributor to help ease the scoring burden for him.
Even so, they’re not in a great position right now.
On one hand, they could look to ship some of their young players to land a star that could help them win right away.
Nevertheless, neither Curry nor Draymond Green is getting any younger, so jeopardizing the team’s future for a small chance to win another ring this season might not be worth it.
GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. will have his work cut out for him during the next couple of weeks, and the reasons behind Bob Myers’ timely departure are more evident by the day.
