In this short video, I’ll take you through how to hit both a lower trajectory shot and a higher trajectory shot with your sand wedge.
How to Hit a Lower Shot
Start with your normal set up using your sand wedge.
Move the ball back in your stance so that its lined up with your back foot.
Shift your weight so you feel it over your front foot.
Press your hands forward ahead of the ball. This will promote a lower ball flight and more roll.
Finish with your chest facing the target – this helps keep your hands ahead of the clubhead.
This set up produces lower ball flight and more roll on the green.
How to Hit a Higher Shot
Start with your normal set up using your sand wedge.
Move the ball forward in your stance so that its lined up with the side of your front foot.
Open up the clubface so that the club works a little more down into the ground to help pop the ball up in the air.
Finish facing target and weight on your front side.
This set up produces a higher ball flight with less roll on the green.
Experiment with these setup adjustments to control the trajectory of your shots around the green!
