The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the most surprising teams of the season and are doing better than many fans expected.
They have a strong roster with multiple great players, but they could be making adjustments in the weeks ahead.
According to Evan Sidery, the Hawks are “canvassing the trade market utilizing Clint Capela’s $22.3 million expiring contract for a rotational upgrade.”
The Hawks, who are 2.5 games out of the No. 3 seed in the East, are interested in being buyers before the upcoming NBA trade deadline.

Capela is posting 10.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season.
His numbers have slipped a bit, but Capela is still an important part of the team’s lineup and has been a starter for every game he’s played this year.
Capela has averaged 12.1 points and 11.7 rebounds during his five seasons with the Hawks, but the team might be ready to move on from him.
They want to capitalize on their success this season and are eager to climb even higher in the standings.
They have been showing strong output on both ends of the floor all season long and have been celebrated for their depth and versatility.
Shipping away Capela’s contract could give them even more depth but it’s not clear which direction they’ll move in.
Which players will they pursue, and just how much can they get in return for Capela’s skills and expiring contract?
Some Atlanta fans are nervous that changing the team right now will mess up their chemistry and ruin their chances, but the front office seems to be seriously considering saying goodbye to their veteran big man.
