Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is 34 years old and there is no doubt that he will be retiring at some point in the future.
But Green has revealed that he doesn’t think about hanging up his jersey anymore, and that is because therapy has helped him find the joy in basketball again.
Speaking to Ohm Youngmisuk, via Legion Hoops, Green spoke about how he’s feeling these days.
Green said:
“The bulls— had taken over the love, the drive was gone. And so bulls— taking over just led me down a bulls— path… I’m from Saginaw, Michigan. I’m from an all-black neighborhood that you don’t go to therapy or you’re f—— weak. So you’re re-training a brain that’s been thinking a certain way for 30 years.”
Draymond says he no longer contemplates retirement thanks to therapy:

Last season, Green was essentially forced into doing therapy and taking care of his mental state.
Numerous outbursts on the court and suspensions led the league and Warriors to sit Green down and give him a tough choice: get help or leave.
He sought the help he needed and it seems to be doing great things for him.
He is saying that his love of basketball had been clouded by other things and there was a lack of drive to perform.
But that has come back, and Green is just as dedicated as ever before.
This season, Green is averaging 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.
He has been playing well even when the Warriors struggled, and he has also reminded everyone of what a strong, guiding force he is.
Green has really embraced his leadership role on the team, and he says he is enjoying basketball once again.
He swears he is no longer on the path he was walking, but some Warriors fans are still worried he may slip up and make bad decisions again.
